Relativity Media has unveiled a fanciful trailer for COME AWAY, a fantasy adventure that takes its inspiration from some of the most iconic fairy tales ever told. Directed by BRAVE helmer Brenda Chapman, the upcoming excursion into escapism written by Marissa Kate Goodhill serves as a prequel to the stories of Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.
Featuring a new spin on characters created by J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan) and Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland), COME AWAY stars Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo, with Anna Chancellor, Michael Caine, Derek Jacobi, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Gyasi, Clarke Peters, and Keira Chansa as a young Alice before Wonderland and Jordan A. Nash as Peter before he becomes Peter Pan.
The plot to COME AWAY centers on two siblings who escape into a world of fantasy after their parents (David Oyelowo and Angelina Jolie) find themselves on a downward spiral following a family tragedy.
Our own Chris Bumbray reviewed the film back in January when it was a part of this year’s Sundance presentation. In his write-up, Chris said COME AWAY is “more like Richard Donner’s RADIO FLYER in that it uses fantasy as an escape from very real trauma, although it’s all coated with a healthy dose of whimsy, resulting in a film that’s too slow and ponderous for kids, but then much too juvenile for adults.” Unfortunately, the result of which amount to a “well-intentioned, handsomely mounted mess.” Be sure to click here to read Bumbray’s full review.
Relativity Media is planning a hybrid theatrical and $19.99 premium video-on-demand release for COME AWAY on November 13, 2020.
